Introduction

The Fully Funded Fulbright US-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program is open to Malaysians. It is offered for Research Fellow/ Scientist degree in the field of Education, Environmental Sciences, Food Technology, Information Sciences, Journalism, Law, Political Science and Public Administration. The deadline for sending an application is 13 Nov 2024.

The objective of the Fulbright U.S.–ASEAN Visiting Scholar Initiative is to deepen people-to-people engagement and strengthen ties between Malaysia, the United States, and the 10 member nations of ASEAN, in areas of ASEAN priorities. The grantee will carry out scholarly and professional research projects on priority issues to the U.S.–ASEAN relationship and ASEAN as a whole.

Eligibility

  • Applicants of the Fulbright U.S.–ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program must be Malaysian citizens.
  • Candidates should be working professionals from University Faculty, Foreign Ministry, Government, or Professionals in the private sector, think tanks, or other NGOs whose work focuses on U.S.-ASEAN issues.

Application Process

All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship. The application should include the following components:

  • A completed application form
  • Project statement (3-5 pages)
  • Bibliography
  • Curriculum vitae (up to 6 pages)
  • Letter of invitation from the U.S. host institution (preferred but not required; confirmation required before final selection and departure)
  • Letters of recommendation (minimum of 3)
  • Copy of academic transcript and diploma (in English)
  • Copy of Identification Card/Passport
