Introduction

The MPIL Internship in Germany is open to all nationals. The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (MPIL) offers paid internship opportunities for undergraduates and graduate students worldwide. The internship will run from May to October 2025. The Max Planck Institute is a leading institute in the fields of international law, comparative public law, and European law. It is open to students from all around the world. Students other than those in the law field can apply for the fully funded Max Planck internship in all other areas. It offers a monthly stipend of 450 euros per month. The internship is usually for 4 weeks and may not exceed 12 weeks.

Eligibility

  • Must be an undergrad or a grad student in a university.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate university-level student during the internship in international relations, European affairs, philosophy, and social and political sciences.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Understand how to use a computer.

Intern Responsibilities

  • Conducting research in international law, comparative public law, and EU law
  • Assisting with the preparation of academic papers for Institute meetings
  • Writing legal summaries of cases and texts
  • Supporting the organization of workshops and conferences
  • Undertaking independent or supervised research projects
  • Contributing to ongoing research projects at the Institute
