The Wadsworth African Fellowship in South Africa is open to African nationals. It is offered for s PhD degree in the field of Anthropology. The deadline for sending your application is 15 Dec 2024. This scholarship is provided by the Wenner-Gren Foundation.

African students seeking a PhD or equivalent degree at South African universities can get financing through the Wadsworth African Fellowships, which enable them to study anthropology at a worldwide level, including biological and archaeological anthropology.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Successful candidates of Wadsworth African Fellowships will be awarded a fellowship worth USD 20,000 which can be used towards travel, living expenses, tuition, student fees, insurance, books, and research costs.
  • The award is renewable for up to two additional years upon successful completion of each preceding year's study.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • The Wadsworth African Fellowships are open to African nationals.
  • Applicants planning to pursue a doctoral-level degree in anthropology are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates applying for Wadsworth African Fellowships must choose their host institutions in South Africa.
  • Applicants applying to the University of Witwatersrand and the University of Cape Town are given priority.
  • A separate application can be made for an additional year of funding to support the dissertation write-up.
