Introduction

The Fully Funded University Research Fellowship in UK is open to all nationals. It is offered for research degrees in the fields of Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics. The deadline for sending an application is 10 Sep 2024. This scholarship is provided by The Royal Society.

The University Research Fellowship (URF) program aims to support the next generation of research leaders in undertaking cutting-edge research. The objectives of the URF program are to enable outstanding early career scientists with the potential to become leaders in their field to:

  • Build an independent research career at a UK university or research institution
  • Gain the freedom, time, and long-term, flexible support to pursue high-quality and innovative lines of scientific research.
  • Develop as research leaders by offering tailored, high-quality professional development, networking, and engagement opportunities.

Fellowships are for eight years, with years six to eight being subject to satisfactory progress demonstrated in a mid-fellowship review at the start of year four.

Eligibility

  • The applicants can be of any nationality.
  • The candidates should not have a permanent post in a university or not-for-profit organization.
  • Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree.
  • Applications from the candidates who have just submitted their Ph.D. are not accepted.
  • Applicants should be in the early stages of his/her research career and have between 3 to 8 years of research experience.
  • Applicant's research must be within the Royal Society’s remit of natural sciences, which includes: biological research and biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, and physics.
