This fellowship is provided to undergraduate students who wish to launch careers in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and are in financial need.

The Washington Center provides selected college students with challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C., for academic credit. The largest program of its kind, The Washington Center, has over 50,000 alumni, many of whom are in public, private, and nonprofit leadership positions.

The Washington Center holds leadership positions in virtually every career field, including law, education, social work, medicine, journalism, diplomacy, business, and politics. Several serve on The Washington Center’s Board of Directors.

Scholarship Benefits

The benefits of the Fully Funded Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship in USA are:

1. Up to $43,500 annually in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees, and some travel expenses.

2. Stipends, housing, and travel allowances for the two summer internships: A domestic internship in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. Department of State and an overseas internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.

Scholarship Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Fully Funded Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship in USA are stated below:

1. Applicants must be US nationals enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time IT-related degree program at a U.S.-based accredited institution.

2. Candidates must be on a timeline to earn their degree (bachelor’s or master’s) after attending four full-time semesters during their two years of the FAIT Fellowship program.

3. Students must hold a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale at the time of the application and maintain this GPA throughout the program.
