Introduction

The MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship 2023 is now accepting applications. An annual scholarship offered to female international/DACA students who have been accepted or are already enrolled full-time in a STEM degree program at a US university that MPOWER finances.

This scholarship initiative targets female students who can be role models and champions for women in STEM and will use their STEM degrees to improve society and the environment. This is in line with MPOWER's mission to enable high-potential global citizens to pursue their educational goals and emerge as the top scientists and innovators of the future.

Benefits

  • Grand Prize: $6,000
  • Runner-Up: $2,000
  • Honorable Mention: $1,000

Eligibility

  • Accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time degree program at a U.S school that MPOWER supports, and
  • An international student is allowed to study in the U.S, as applicable legally:
  • Has a valid visa that permits study in the U.S.
  • Is protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
  • Is a U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder)

Others

Winners are chosen by MPOWER based on the following:

  • The grade of the applicant’s essay writing; The essays should show solid English writing abilities, appealing goals, and clarity of thought;
  • The applicant’s academic and professional distinction (where applicable);
  • The possibility of the candidate significantly advancing a STEM discipline that will benefit people or the environment; and
  • The candidate’s prior accomplishments and ability to serve as an advocate and role model for women and girls
