The Fully Funded Charles R. The Program requires its fellows to play a vital role in shaping policies, participating in negotiations, and engaging in the evaluation processes at various levels, including the national, regional, and international arenas. This nine-month fellowship offers a blended learning experience that includes several modules, such as workshops for knowledge development, intentional networking activities, and hands-on learning through simulations and involvement in international policymaking processes.

1. It provides travel provisions, including airfare to and from the participant’s home country and ground transportation for both the in-person workshop in Nairobi and one selected conference.

2. The fellowship in Africa by the UN Environment Programme provides accommodation support and a stipend.

3. All fellows also receive access to coaching and support throughout the program to facilitate the development and delivery of the policy brief.

4. Young African Policy Fellows become part of a growing community of skilled African leaders.

5. The Young African Fellowship Program includes conferences, workshops, in-person sessions, and boot camps.

The eligibility criteria for the Fully Funded Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellows Program in Africa are stated below:

1. To be eligible for this training program in Africa, applicants must be between 20 and 35 years old.

2. Open to individuals from any African country currently living and working within the continent.

3. Applicants must showcase a distinct interest in biodiversity and related subjects.

4. While the program is accessible to candidates from French-speaking countries, a basic proficiency in English for both writing and speaking is necessary. Some training materials and sessions may be translated into French.

5. A minimum requirement includes having a first university degree in fields such as environmental sciences, social sciences, agricultural sciences, international relations, gender studies, indigenous knowledge systems, resource mobilization, biotechnology, or any other relevant sector in international environmental governance. Otherwise, relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

6. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in conservation or biodiversity management gained through employment, activism, or volunteering.

7. Successful applicants must commit to attending the entire course while being available for travel to policy conferences and providing support to negotiators when applicable.
