Introduction

The Early-Career Fellowship Program in USA is open to all nationals. This fellowship program is a part-time fellowship for fellows who want to explore their career interests and passions. It is an excellent journalism fellowship where candidates will have the opportunity to work with mentors in planning, reporting, and writing articles for The Open Notebook and will become a part of its editorial team. This early-career fellowship is an initiative of the Open Notebook (TON), a non-profit organization in the USA that provides materials on training and education for science journalists. The fellowship program is open to people from around the world. Through these early-career journalism fellowships, fellows will get the chance to work on practical assignments and gain relevant experience.

The Open Notebook Early-Career Fellowship Program offers paid fellowships with a stipend of $6,600, paid in four installments. Hence, fellows do not have to worry about financial constraints. This fellowship for journalists also offers various other benefits to all fellows. It is a remote fellowship where applicants will work on reporting and writing articles, participating in editorial discussions, and conducting phone or video meetings with mentors. The Open Notebook Fellowship also involves other activities. These include participating in group activities in the fellowship slack community. Therefore, the early-career fellowship program should not be missed. It is a fantastic USA fellowship that requires part-time commitment with five to seven hours per week.

Moreover, this fellowship with a stipend will allow early-career science journalists to polish their skills and receive mentorship from experts. The duration of the Open Notebook Early-Career Fellowship 2025 is 12 months and is likely to start in February 2025. Fellows will gain excellent journalism experience through this remote fellowship. Applicants will specifically gain writing, editing, and reporting experience. Each fellow will work on four articles for publication at The Open Notebook while receiving guidance, support, and career development advice from experienced journalists.
