Introduction

The Human Rights Essay Award is open to all nationals. It is an incredible opportunity for law students around the world. This annual award competition is sponsored by the Academy of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. Law students worldwide are encouraged to participate in this competition and share their thoughts on the most critical challenges faced by the world these days: climate change and human rights: impact responsibilities and opportunities. The American University Human Rights Essay Award in the USA aims to encourage the production of academic articles in the area of international human rights law.

The topic for the American University Human Rights Essay Award 2025 is “Human Trafficking and Human Rights.” Participants have the choice to select any subject related to this theme. However, the scope of the essay must correspond to the theme of the year 2025; otherwise, the essay will be disqualified. The Academy has chosen this topic because it is important and necessitates the development of legal human rights standards across different international protection systems. This issue can be explored from different perspectives, including domestic regulation, redress mechanisms, criminal legislation, root causes, the operations of criminal networks, and migration dynamics, among many other aspects. Moreover, it will be noteworthy that this 2025 topic will be addressed during their 30th Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition.

The Academy of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law has been keen to promote a realistic approach to this sector and create linkages between different human rights educators, experts, and organizations. Those who are interested can also take advantage of the Academy’s powerful training. Furthermore, it aims to expand the dominance of human rights and related laws around the world. The global human rights essay competition trains participants to turn their ideas and opinions into well-researched, cogent, and useful content. A focused, coherent, articulated, and understandable essay with no grammatical errors is required for the winning essay. Every year, this worldwide competition aims to recruit students with a background in international human rights law and requires them to write on a specific topic while adhering to international essay writing guidelines. As a result, the top writers are thrust into the spotlight of the international organization.

The American University Human Rights Essay Award aims to provide potential individuals an opportunity to analyze the problems in this sector and then develop solutions. The participants will also get a chance to improve their writing skills through this international essay competition. Moreover, the organization benefits from this competition by having perspectives about the problem and its solutions from different areas of the world, helping them develop a profound strategy for the world based on these essays.

The Academy will grant two international Awards this year, one for the best article in Spanish and one for the best article in English. The American University Human Rights Essay Award 2025 will provide a full tuition scholarship to the winners of the Program of Advanced Studies on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law for either the Diploma or Certificate of Attendance options. The award doesn’t cover travel, housing, and living expenses. The best articles of the 2025 Human Rights Essay Award may also be published in the American University International Law Review.
