The scholarships are open for the residents of UK & EU countries who are in the first year of study are eligible to apply for the scholarships.

Benefits

The scholarships will be awarded worth up to £3,000 and £1,000.

Available Subjects: The scholarships are available to study an undergraduate degree program in any subject offered by the university.

Number of Scholarships: Two Scholarships are available for the students

Eligibility

Eligible Nationalities: The candidates of the UK and EU are eligible to apply for the scholarships.​

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant’s household income must be less than £25,000.
  • The applicant must be normally resident in POLAR4 postcodes rated 1 or 2.
  • The applicant must be a UK or EU student.
  • The applicant must be paying full tuition fees (therefore NHS-funded students and students who are being funded are not eligible).
  • The applicant must also have correctly filled out and submitted your application to Student Finance England/Student Finance European Team for a loan and must also make sure that you and your parent/guardian have given your consent to share the information with the University.

Care leavers bursary: In order to be eligible for the car leavers bursary, the applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant must be under 25 years of age and will have been in care for at least 13 weeks after the age of 14.
  • The applicant’s household income must meet all of the criteria.
  • The applicant must be a UK or EU student.
  • The applicant must be paying full tuition fees (therefore NHS-funded students and students who are being funded are not eligible).
  • The applicant must also have correctly filled out and submitted your application to Student Finance England/Student Finance European Team for a loan.
  • The applicant must also make sure that you and your parent/guardian have given your consent to share the information with the University.

Others

There is a range of support available to help finance your studies. Candidates who meet all eligibility criteria can apply for the scholarships. The University of Surrey will identify the candidates, and then you can apply for the scholarship.

The University of Surrey offers the scholarship to qualifying students who have been in local authority care for 2019 entry.

  • POLAR (Participation of Local Areas) is a HEFCE classification for the participation in higher education by young people by geographical area in the UK. It’s used to measure the widening participation performance of universities.
  • Check the POLAR ranking of your home postcode.
  • Full Surrey Award 2019: The award amount for Full Surrey Award 2019 entry is £3,000 for eligible for the eligible candidate.
  • Care leavers Bursary: The award amount for Care leavers’ bursary is a minimum of £1,000 on entry to the qualifying students.
