Introduction

The George Pirouet Scholarship in Latin American Studies is open to all nationals. It is offered for Master's and PhD degrees in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. The deadline for sending an application is 30 Nov 2024. This scholarship is provided by the Victoria University of Wellington.

The late George Trachy Pirouet, who earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English, Greek, and History at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington, in 1963, left a gift that founded this scholarship. The hotel Millbrook House, which had been in his family since 1848 and was located close to St. Helier in the Channel Islands, was taken over by Mr. Pirouet in 1975. His interest in the Victoria University of Wellington remained strong. This fellowship is intended to assist students enrolled at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in Latin American studies.
