Scholarship Eligibility

To participate in the scholarship contest, individuals must meet certain eligibility criteria, including:

  • Be a student pursuing a college or university degree (associate, bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate) or a trade certification in a technical college
  • Be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution
  • Be 18 years or older at the time of entry

Essay Submission Topic

Please write an original essay about the connection between substance use and mental health among college students. If applicable, incorporate your own experiences with substance use and mental health on your college campus.

You might answer questions like: How do mental health issues and substance use correlate? What are the risk factors for mental illness and substance misuse among college students? What are the rates of substance use disorder among college students?

Essay Submission Guidelines

When submitting your essay, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Essay is your own original work
  • Essay is no longer than 1,200 words
  • Judgment guidelines: content quality, degree of originality, completeness, and relevancy to the topic
  • Essay submission deadline: April 12, 2024
  • Scholarship award announcement: April 19, 2024
  • Scholarship will be awarded for the Summer 2024 semester: Scholarship will be awarded directly to the university through the financial aid department (or however the university chooses) to be distributed to the winning student.

Please note that we have a zero-tolerance policy for AI-generated content. Each submission will be tested for originality to detect AI-generated work. Any submissions created by AI will be disqualified.

To submit an essay for review in our scholarship contest, follow these steps:

  • Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements.
  • Craft an original essay.
  • Submit your essay via email to [email protected] with “Scholarship Essay Submission” as the subject.

  • university/college institution
  • preferred email

Winners will be notified by email—check back on April 19, 2024.
