Introduction

International students are eligible to apply for Tianjin Government Scholarships 2022-2023, which are fully funded scholarships. The scholarship provides up to CNY 2000/month for undergraduate, masters, and PhD studies.

International students may apply for the Tianjin Government Scholarship to pursue higher education in China. We invite you to apply to Nankai University, a renowned Chinese university that consistently ranks in China’s top 10 and offers research expertise in English.

Tianjin offers full and partial funding for international students at Nankai University’s Bachelor, Master, and PhD programs. An award presented by Nankai University is based on the guiding principle, ‘Enlarging Scale, Raising Level, and Regulating Management’ proposed by MOE to outstanding international students pursuing degrees at Nankai University.

Benefits

The following benefits are provided to recipients of Tianjin Government Scholarships:

Full Scholarship:

  • Fees for registration, tuition, accommodation on campus, laboratory fees, internship fees, and basic learning materials are waived.
  • CNY800/student/year for comprehensive insurance in China.
  • Living allowance (10-months): Bachelor’s degree: CNY 1400/month; Master’s degree: CNY 1700/month; Doctor’s degree: CNY 2000/month.
  • There is a one-time fee of 800 yuan per student for new students.

Partially Scholarship:

  • Undergraduate: CNY 20000 /students/year.
  • Master: CNY 30000 /students/year.
  • PH.D: CNY 38000 /students/year.

Eligibility

The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible for the Tianjin Government Scholarship:

  • English and Chinese are required languages
  • All countries in the world are eligible.
  • The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen, under the age of 25
  • High school diplomas are required for bachelor’s degree applicants.
  • Applicants for a master’s degree must have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants for a doctoral degree must hold a master’s degree.

To apply for the Tianjin Government Scholarship, please follow these steps:

To apply for the program and scholarship, the applicant must prepare the following documents:

  1. Two copies of each are required
  2. The highest diploma must be accompanied by translations in Chinese or English.
  3. Transcripts must be accompanied by translations in Chinese or English.
  4. A Statement of Purpose, including study or research plans, personal backgrounds, financial situations, strengths, etc., written in Chinese or English (at least 800 words for Master’s or Doctor’s degree applications, at least 300 words for Bachelor’s degree applications).
  5. Professors or associate professors are required to write two recommendation letters in Chinese or English. Bachelor’s degree applicants must submit one recommendation letter.
  6. HSK level 4 or above is required for applicants to the Chinese-teaching discipline. Applicants who do not possess the required HSK 4 level or have no knowledge of Chinese may apply for two months or one year of scholarship-covered remedial Chinese language study before beginning their major studies. English-teaching applicants whose native language is not English should submit TOEFL (above 87) or IELTS (above 6.0) scores.
  7. For foreign students whose period of studies in China lasts longer than six months, a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by China’s Quarantine Authority) filled out in English is required. All items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form must be covered in the medical examination. Records that are incomplete or that do not have the physician’s signature, the hospital’s official stamp, or a sealed (stamped) photograph of the applicant are not valid. A medical examination is valid for six months from the date of the examination. Please consider this factor when deciding when to take the medical examination.
  8. Passport photocopy.
  9. A copy of the application fee receipt. The application fee for graduate study is CNY600 or US$100, and for undergraduate study it is CNY400 or US$75. You can submit your application in person at the Nankai University Registry (the ground floor of the Nankai University Student Activity Center) or wire it to the following account:
