Eligibility

  • It is open to early-career and mid-career researchers, but independent researchers are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be based in the UK and have a long-term research position at a UK institution (e.g., HEI or IRO) in the humanities or social sciences.
  • Applications must include a partner/co-applicant from the partner organization, with a focus on academic and non-academic collaboration.
  • In addition, applicants cannot hold more than one British Academy award simultaneously.
  • The partner organization should be in one of the following countries: Egypt, Brazil, Jordan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Kenya, South Africa, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam and other Least Developed Countries. For details about these countries, click here.
  • Postgraduate students, including those waiting for their PhD outcomes, are ineligible for this British Academy grant.
