Scholarship Description

The Italian Government (MAECI) Scholarship is open to all nationals. The MAECI Scholarship is for foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad. The scholarship is for students to pursue Master’s and PhD Degree programs at Italian Public Universities. Through this Scholarship, the Italian Government aims to promote the Italian language and culture. The scholarship is open to citizens from 139 countries. Many more countries have been added to the list this year.

The scholarship will be awarded for 9 months. This scholarship aims to financially support those students who are unable to afford the expenses. The scholarship includes a monthly allowance, Tuition fee coverage, and health insurance coverage. Scholarships are offered for four different study schemes: Master’s Degree, Courses of Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM), Ph.D. program, and Research under academic supervision. All the applicants must be submitted online through the “Study in Italy” website.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Exemption from Payment of enrollment and tuition fees.
  • Health and Medical/Accident insurance contracted by MAECI.
  • A total of 9000 euros will be granted to students, distributed in 3 installments.
    • The first installment of 4500 euros.
    • The second installment of 2500 Euro.
    • The third and final installment of 2000 Euro.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicants applying for a master’s degree program must have completed a bachelor’s degree.
  • Age 28 years old or younger at the time of application for the Master’s degree program
  • If you are applying for a PhD Programme, must not be over the age of 30 years at the time of application.
  • Applicant must be able to prove his/her English language proficiency from IELTS or any other Language certificate such as English Proficiency language proof.

How to Apply for the Italian Government MAECI Scholarship?

  • Applicants must apply online through the “Study in Italy” website. You don’t need to take admission first into the university.
  • The application process for the MAECI scholarship and university admission are separate.
  • For the MAECI Scholarship: You’ll apply through the online platform designated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • University Admission: Once you’ve been selected for the MAECI scholarship you’ll then need to secure admission to your chosen program at an Italian public university.
