Introduction

The Fully Funded Matsumae (MIF) Fellowship in Japan is open to all nationals. It is an opportunity for PhD Degree holders to carry out research in Japan in their fields. Japan is an ideal place for any student whether they are studying undergrad or a grad degree program. Fellowship holders can conduct research in any field but priority will be given to the applicants who are in the fields of natural science, engineering, and medicine. The duration of the Matsumae (MIF) Fellowship 2025 is six months.

This is a unique platform for all the PhD holders to conduct research in Japan in a good environment, and work with great fellows. Explore Japan during the research period. The MIF fellowship will cover all the expenses such as flight tickets, meals, accommodation, and a monthly stipend for living expenses. The MIF was founded in 1979 by Dr. Matsumae to fill the gap and act as a bridge between Japan and other countries by inviting talented and young researchers to conduct research and provide solutions related to their home countries.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Fully Funded Matsumae (MIF) Fellowship in Japan are stated below:

  • An applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of application.
  • Applicants must obtain an acceptance letter from the host institution.
  • Applicants must be 45 years old or younger at the application deadline.
  • Similarly, an applicant must not have previously worked in Japan.
