Scholarship Description

The Fully Funded Iceland Writers Retreat Alumni Award is open to all nationals. This Retreat offers a full and partial Scholarship to talented writers to connect with other brilliant writers and enhance your writing skills. The 2025 Retreat is scheduled to run from April 23 – 27, 2025. The venue for 2025 will be the Fosshotel Reykjavík.

Scholarship Benefits

Full Scholarship

  • Participant Fee
  • Four Nights Accommodation at the retreat hotel
  • Round-trip flights to Iceland

Partial Funding

  • Partial funding covers the participant fee only, and neither accommodation nor round-trip flights.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Anyone who is aged 18 or over can apply.
  • Applications from people of all backgrounds and with all levels of writing experience.
  • The Competition is open to the nationals of all the countries.
  • IELTS is not required, but proficiency in English is required.
  • The recipients will be chosen based primarily on two factors:
    • The potential they demonstrate (or have demonstrated) as a writer.
    • They need financial support to be able to attend.
  • Evaluation of the answers in the online application.
  • Applications will be reviewed by a group of IWR alumni.
