Introduction

 

The Global Scholarship is designed to inspire and equip young adults to tackle the most intense issues affecting their communities. To be eligible, you must have a desire for higher education with an emphasis on (1) science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, (2) educating our children, and (3) the creative arts. Consideration also will be given to areas of emphasis that focus on sustainability.

eligibility

A Little Hope Foundation provides up to $10,000 in scholarships annually. Students have the opportunity to receive one $2,500 scholarship a year. The scholarships are granted based upon assessment of need and university selection.  

Benefits

Applicants must be an underrepresented minority student who demonstrates high performance and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school and community or work-related activities. ​

Dr. Emma Lerew Scholarship

Underrepresented minority students focused on careers in education are eligible to apply for the Dr. Emma Lerew Scholarship. The candidates will be on a path to provide excellent teaching environments and community engagement to the next generation of youth. In addition to a scholarship, candidates will receive mentoring from successful teachers and administrators. The selection committee, chaired by Dr. Emma Lerew, consists of a minimum of three public service professionals. 

Semper Fi "Honor" Scholarship

The Semper Fi “Honor” Scholarship gives preference to Navy and Marine veterans and their families who meet the eligibility criteria and seek higher education to enable them to continue their service to their community.  The selection committee is co-chaired by Luis Hernandez Sr., Navy veteran and retired computer science teacher, and Sarah M. Hernandez, Marine Corps veteran and business professional.   

 

Step Up Scholarship

Candidates will be children of single parents who meet the above eligibility criteria and desire to contribute to their family and community through higher education in (1) science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, (2) educating our children, and (3) the creative arts.  The selection committee is chaired by Susie Hernandez, executive director of programming at PBS affiliate KQED in San Francisco.
