The Czech Republic is a parliamentary representative democratic republic. The President, elected by direct vote for a five-year term, holds a largely ceremonial role. The Prime Minister, appointed by the President, leads the government and is usually the head of the majority party in the Chamber of Deputies. The bicameral Parliament consists of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. The judiciary is independent, with the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, and Supreme Administrative Court. The country has a multi-party system, with major parties like ANO 2011 and the Czech Social Democratic Party. It is divided into 14 regions, each with elected assemblies and governors.
