Introduction

The Pacific Excellence Scholarship at University of Waikato in New Zealand is open to New Zealand and Australian citizens. It is offered for Bachelors degree in the field of courses offered by the university. The deadline for sending an application is 31 Aug 2024. This scholarship is provided by University of Waikato. 

The Pacific Excellence Scholarship was established in 2018 to support the University of Waikato’s commitment to recognize and foster the excellence of our Pacific students. The Scholarship is awarded based on meritorious achievement and connection to the Pacific community. For domestic students of Pacific Island descent who are currently studying at NCEA Level 3 towards University Entrance and who intend to enroll full-time (120 points) in an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Waikato in 2025.

Benefits

  • Successful applicants of the Pacific Excellence Scholarship at the University of Waikato 2024 will receive a value of up to NZD 20,000.
  • The amount offered is at the discretion of the Selection Panel and will be based on criteria such as, but not limited to, total available funding, period of enrolment, grades, financial need, number of credits enrolled, and number of applicants. 

Eligibility

  • Students should be of Pacific Island descent.
  • Students should have achieved at least a Merit endorsement at NCEA Level 2, or equivalent through examinations such as the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) or the International Baccalaureate (IB) examination.
  • Students must be studying at NCEA Level 3 towards University Entrance in the year before tenure.
  • Students should be intending to enroll full-time in an undergraduate degree (a full-time academic year comprises 120 points) at the University of Waikato for the first time in the year of tenure.
  • Students need to be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
