Introduction

The Fully Funded University of Malaya (UM) Bright Scholarship in Malaysia is open to all nationals. In the English context, it is known as the University of Malaya (UM) Bright Scholarship. It is a full scholarship for international students as well as for Malaysian citizens to pursue a Doctoral Degree (PhD) in research mode at Universiti Malaya. The UM is a Prestigious Public University situated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is Malaysia’s Premier Institution.

Benefits

The benefits of the Fully Funded University of Malaya (UM) Bright Scholarship in Malaysia are:

  • Stipend: RM3,500/month for 42 months
  • Tuition Fee: Fee waiver throughout 7 semesters

Note: Insurance, visas, flight tickets, medical examinations, and accommodation cost is NOT covered.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Fully Funded University of Malaya (UM) Bright Scholarship in Malaysia are stated below:

  • Age should not exceed 30 years at the time of application.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA >3.70 (or other recognized equivalent qualification).
  • Master’s degree by research; or Master’s Degree through mixed mode (coursework and dissertation) with honors and a CGPA of at least 3.70/4.00.
  • IELTS (Academic) with a score of at least 6.5.
  • TOEFL 73-93
  • CEFR B2

Note: The validity of the English test is within 2 years from the date of the exam.

List of Required Documents for Fully Funded University of Malaya (UM) Bright Scholarship

  • Passport size photo
  • Completed UMES application form
  • Proof of publication (first page only)
  • Copy of Applicant’s Identity Card
  • Copies of certificates and academic transcripts at the Bachelor’s Degree level
  • Copies of certificates and academic transcripts at the Master’s Degree level
  • A valid IELTS/TOEFL/CEFR certificate that is no more than 2 years from the date of the examination.
