Introduction

The collaborative initiative between Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and SEARCA began in 2012 and has been extended for five academic years, starting in September 2020 and ending in August 2025, under a new framework. For each full scholarship from SEARCA given to qualified nationals of the eleven SEAMEO member countries who plan to pursue their Master's or PhD degrees at UPM, UPM will provide a matching scholarship in the form of a full fee waiver (2 years for Master's degrees and 3 years for PhD degrees), according to the project. Under this cooperative scholarship programme, three scholars have already finished their studies, while four others are still enrolled.
