A Doctoral (PhD) student position in Biomedical Engineering, University of Rhode Island, RI, USA is available starting as soon as possible. The PhD student will be a primary contributor to Dr. Mankodiya’s Wearable Biosensing Lab in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. S/he will help conceptualize, develop, and validate a multi-channel functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) system including hardware, firmware, and signal processing algorithms. The system will also acquire clinical epilepsy data and perform analysis for spike/seizure detection and source localization. This position requires hands-on-experience developing biomedical instrumentation. Primary areas of interest include: (1) analog circuit design and signal acquisition, (2) experience with fNIRS hardware prototyping and, (3) optode fabrication, and (6) human experiments (not in particular order of preference).

Applicant must have minimum of MSc, or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or closely related field; course work or research experience (publications a plus) in one of the areas of interest.
