Fully Funded MEXT Scholarship at Hokkaido University in Japan 2024-25

The Fully Funded MEXT Scholarship at Hokkaido University in Japan is open to all nationals. It is available to new students who come to Japan to pursue Master’s and PhD degrees at Hokkaido University. The applications are open to apply for the October 2025 enrollment. The scholarship covers the tuition fees, enrollment fees, airfare, and monthly stipend for the Master’s and PhD students. Hokkaido University is a public research university located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. It is the fifth-oldest government-authorized university in Japan.

• Monthly Stipend:
  • Master’s course: 144,000 JPY
  • Doctoral course: 145,000 JPY
• Airfare travel ticket to and from Japan
• Application fee: Exempted
• Matriculation fee: Exempted
• Tuition fees: Exempted

• All international students currently residing outside of Japan are eligible to apply.
• Candidates must have completed or be in the process of completing their previous degree before October 2025.
• Applicants with an undergraduate degree are eligible for a master’s degree.
• Those with a master’s degree certificate are eligible for a PhD degree.
• Students must have a CGPA of 3 on a scale of 4 or an equivalent 80% in their previous degree.
• Applicants must have been born on or after April 2, 1989.
