Introduction

The Fully Funded Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship is open to all nationals. The Asian Development Bank scholarship program offers a fully funded Master’s degree scholarship in development-related fields at Asia Pacific University in Japan. IELTS is not required. The scholarship is available to start academic studies in September 2025. The APU is currently accepting Graduate applications. The Asia Pacific University will select the applicants and will forward the list to the ADB. The Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) is popular in Japan.

Note: The initial scholarship period is one year. Continuing eligibility for the second year will be determined based on the student’s academic performance at APU.

Eligibility

  • Be a citizen of an ADB member country and a Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) eligible country.
  • Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country.
  • Currently reside and work in their home country.
  • Have at least two years of full-time work experience after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English communication skills.
  • Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
  • Not be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • Not be pursuing a second master’s degree.
  • Have a family income that does not exceed US$50,000 per year and an individual income that does not exceed US$25,000 per year. If selected, applicants must submit a Certificate of Income.
  • Intend to enroll at APU in September 2025.

How to Apply for ADB Scholarship at Asia Pacific University?

  • Applicants must first apply to the APU via the online application system. APU is accepting applications for all graduate programs for the 2025 intake.
  • Request for this scholarship within the APU Online Application.
  • Submit your application by 10th January 2025.
  • Along with their application, applicants must upload a Certificate of Employment issued by their current employer/company.
  • If the current employment duration is less than two years, a Certificate of Employment from the previous employer must also be submitted.
  • Both certificates should clearly state the start and end dates of employment, as well as the monthly or annual income.
  • As an alternative, the latest Income Tax Return can be submitted to verify the applicant’s annual or monthly salary.
  • APU will send the list of shortlisted applicants to the ADB Scholarship Committee. The final scholarship award results are decided by ADB-JSP.
