About Tianjin University

Tianjin University (TJU) is a public research university in Tianjin, China, and the oldest university in the country's modern history. Founded in 1895 by the Guangxu Emperor as Peiyang University, it was renamed in 1951 after the Chinese Revolution. TJU is a National Key University, directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China, and is part of Project 211, Project 985, and the Double First-Class Construction.
