The DAFI Scholarship 2026-2027 in Rwanda offers fully funded undergraduate degree opportunities for refugee and asylum-seeker students. This UNHCR program covers tuition, study materials, food, transportation, and accommodation, enabling qualified individuals to earn a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in their country of asylum.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, administers the DAFI (Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative) program to support tertiary education for refugees. In Rwanda, over 600 refugee students have already benefited from this scholarship, which also encourages community engagement and skills development through regular monitoring and support.

DAFI Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a recognized refugee or asylum seeker living in Rwanda
  • Priority given to those with excellent academic performance
  • Must have been accepted to a university in Rwanda (proof of admission required)
  • Only one family member can apply/obtain the DAFI scholarship
  • Applicants currently benefiting from another higher education scholarship are not eligible
  • Applicants confirmed for resettlement to third countries are not eligible
  • Female and persons with special needs are highly encouraged to apply
