USTC Internship gives undergraduate and graduate students the chance to join cutting-edge research projects at the University of Science and Technology of China. The USTC Internship supports research capability development under the guidance of USTC professors and provides opportunities to gain experience valuable for future Master’s, PhD, or post-doctoral applications.

The program is offered by the International College, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei. USTC provides limited fellowships (Level A/B/C) with varying support such as tuition waivers, medical insurance, housing, and stipends; admitted students receive official admission documents after tuition payment confirmation.

How long is the internship duration?

The internship duration ranges from 3 months to 1 year. This allows flexibility for short-term research stays or longer research collaborations depending on project needs and agreement with the supervising professor.

What costs should applicants expect if not fully funded?

Tuition fees for self-funded or non-fellowship applicants are listed in the program: 2,160 RMB per month (undergraduate/master’s), 2,660 RMB per month (PhD). Additional costs include international student dormitory (500–1,000 RMB per month depending on room) and insurance (160 RMB per month).

Is on-campus accommodation available for fellowship holders?

Yes. USTC Fellowship Level A and Level B students are offered on-campus accommodation on a first-come, first-served basis. If campus housing is full, students are responsible for finding off-campus housing, though assistance is provided.

What visa and insurance requirements apply to admitted students?

Admitted students must obtain a student visa (using JW201 or JW202 as applicable) at a Chinese Embassy or Consulate and ensure it remains valid for their stay. International students must purchase insurance online in accordance with national regulations and university requirements before arrival.
