TechGirls Summer Exchange Program 2026 is a fully funded opportunity in the United States designed to empower young women interested in STEM fields, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This prestigious exchange program offers hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world exposure to inspire future leaders in STEM. For the 2026 cycle, the program will select 111 participants from 37 countries, including the United States, giving young women a transformative experience that combines cultural exchange with advanced STEM learning. Participants will join a seven-month mentorship journey, with 23 days spent in the U.S., exploring major innovation hubs such as Austin, Denver, Seattle, Detroit, Cincinnati, and Kansas City.

Initiated by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, TechGirls stands as one of the most competitive and impactful exchange programs worldwide. With its commitment to shaping confident, skilled, and globally minded young women, the program provides full financial support, including travel, accommodation, and program activities, ensuring that talented participants can focus entirely on learning and growth. This unique experience opens doors to global networks, leadership opportunities, and advanced STEM exposure, preparing young women to excel in their academic and professional futures.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Applicants:

• Age: 15-17 years old
  • Born on or between July 12, 2008, and July 11, 2011.
• Citizenship: From one of the above eligible countries.
• Skills and Interests: Demonstrate advanced skills and a passion for STEM fields
• Career Goals: Intend to pursue a STEM education and a career.
• Language Proficiency: Have strong English language skills.
• Commitment: Committed to completing community-based projects after the program.

What TechGirls Will Do in the United States?

During a three-week program in the USA, you will engage in an Interactive Tech Camp at Virginia Tech to learn about cutting-edge technologies and explore different career paths in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

TechGirls will also travel to several US cities (Austin, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Kansas City, or Seattle) to explore the Career in STEM.

Upon returning home, the participants are encouraged to implement community-based projects related to STEM.

• Gather the necessary documents, including a recent academic transcript and a clear portrait photo. Transcripts do not need to be in English.
