UNEP Young Champions of the Earth
The UNEP Young Champions of the Earth program is a prestigious global environmental award established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This initiative recognizes and supports young environmental leaders aged 18-30 who demonstrate innovative solutions to pressing environmental challenges. The program provides funding, mentorship, and global visibility to help scale their projects and amplify their impact. Each year, seven young champions are selected from around the world, representing diverse regions and environmental focus areas. Winners receive seed funding of $15,000, access to expert mentorship, and opportunities to present their work at high-level UN events. The program aims to empower the next generation of environmental leaders who are driving sustainable development through creative approaches to conservation, climate action, pollution reduction, and ecosystem restoration. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record of environmental leadership and present a compelling vision for how their project will create tangible environmental benefits. The selection process evaluates innovation, feasibility, potential impact, and leadership qualities. Successful applicants join a global network of environmental changemakers and receive ongoing support to implement their projects effectively. The UNEP Young Champions of the Earth program represents a significant opportunity for young environmentalists to gain recognition, resources, and connections to advance their work on a global scale.
