Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • International student
  • Applied for but not yet commenced a single undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney
  • Must enrol in their eligible degree full-time
  • Not be commencing a second degree at the University of Sydney
  • Must have completed secondary school (or a foundation program in Australia or from a University of Sydney recognised foundation partner)
  • Must not have previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a year 12 program)

No, deferral and suspension of the scholarship are not permitted.

What happens if I transfer to another degree?

The scholarship cannot be transferred to another stream, degree, or faculty. If you transfer courses, the scholarship will not apply.

Are there any additional costs not covered by the scholarship?

Yes, recipients are responsible for Overseas Health Cover (OSHC), living costs, accommodation, textbooks, flights, and costs associated with being under 18.

How are recipients selected?

Selection is based on academic merit, completion of an online application form, diversity of nationality, and diversity of intended degree.

When will I hear back after applying?

The indicative turnaround time to receive a scholarship offer is 5 weeks from when you submit an application.

Can domestic students apply?

No, only international students as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 are eligible. Australian citizens, permanent residents, and dual citizens with Australian nationality are not eligible.
