  • Qualify for “Home” fee status
  • Be actively involved in the Muslim community and exhibit in-depth understanding of issues impacting Muslim communities in Britain. Apply for a master’s degree in media and journalism, sports, arts and culture, sustainability and environment, technology, policy, or law.
  • Be eligible for zakat or in need of money
  • Exhibit a thorough awareness of your chosen industry and how to advance within it, along with relevant prior experience and/or accomplishments in the field.
  • Show that you are aware of how the course will help you make a social impact.
  • Show a sustained dedication to the advancement of British communities and society.
  • In one of the following categories pertaining to British Muslims, demonstrate how the training will improve your effectiveness.
  • Effective Advocacy and Improving Public Perception: Encouraging Muslims to be better represented and contribute to civil society in order to fight Islamophobia and improve attitudes towards Muslims in Britain
  • Raising standards and expectations in British Muslim communities through social development and community service.
  • This scholarship is not available to you if you:
    • are enrolling in a master’s program at a different university than the University of Sussex.
    • are advancing to the last year of an integrated master’s program at Sussex
    • are enrolled in an online course.
    • are already recipients of another award from the University of Sussex, such as the Chancellor’s Masters Award.
