Eligibility Criteria for SI Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2026

  • Eligibility based on citizenship: Applicants must be female citizens of one of 10 African and Asian countries: Bangladesh, Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Nigeria, Rwanda, Thailand, South Africa, or Vietnam.
  • Field of Study: Candidates must apply to a STEM-related master’s program eligible for the SI Pioneering Women in STEM scholarship.
  • Tuition Requirements: As international students, applicants must pay university tuition costs.

What work or leadership experience is required?

You must document at least 3,000 hours of work experience accumulated from up to three employers before February 2026. In addition, you need to show leadership experience, such as influencing strategy or managing teams, though there is no fixed hour minimum for that.

Can current Swedish residents apply?

Yes, as long as you are a citizen of an eligible country and meet all criteria. However, the travel grant is not available if you already live in Sweden, and you must not already hold a Swedish degree or prior SI scholarship.

Can I change or defer the scholarship programme?

No. The scholarship is tied exclusively to the master’s programme for which you were admitted at the time of selection. Changes, deferrals, or extensions are not allowed, and no additional support for family members is provided.

Can I apply to both this scholarship and others?

Yes. You may apply simultaneously to this scholarship and SI’s Global Professionals scholarship if eligible for both. Just ensure each application meets that specific scholarship’s requirements and guidelines.

What happens after selection?

If you’re awarded, you’ll receive an official offer and must accept by the deadline. Decline any conflicting admissions accordingly. If placed on the reserve list, you may receive notification later. After your scholarship ends, you become part of the alumni network.
