Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Shandong University Scholarship, you must fulfil the following criteria:

• Eligible Countries: All world countries except China

Degree and age requirements:

• Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. They should be under 25 years old when applying for Bachelor programs
• Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or have an equivalent qualification and be under the age of 35 when applying for Master’s programs;
• Applicants need a Master’s degree or a similar qualification. They must also be under 40 years old when applying for Ph.D. programs.
• Have an excellent academic performance and strong scientific research skills.
• The applicant cannot receive any other scholarship from the Chinese government while getting the SDU Scholarship.

Language requirements:

For programs taught in Chinese:

• Applicants must have obtained 210 points or above in the HSK 4 test when applying for Bachelor programs;
• Applicants must have obtained 180 points or above in the HSK 5 test when applying for Master programs;
• Applicants must have obtained 180 points or above in the HSK 6 test when applying for PhD programs.

For programs taught in English

• Native English speakers (U.K., U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia).
• English speakers need to submit one of the following:
  • IELTS results of 6.0 or higher
  • TOEFL scores of 80 or higher
  • Other equivalent certificates Mybest Scores are accepted. The DI code for Shandong University is C296.
• English speakers with a top degree from a school where English is the main language do not need to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores. Official proof of English as the language of instruction must be provided.

How to Apply?

• Eligible applicants must log in to the SDU Online Application System for International Students (http://www.apply.sdu.edu.cn) to complete their application.
• Fill out the electronic Application Form for Shandong University Scholarship for Outstanding International Students in Chinese or English.
• Sign the completed application form, scan it, and upload it to the system. Paper applications sent by post are not required.
• Provide all required documents as listed in the application instructions, including academic transcripts, recommendation letters, and language certificates. Applicants are responsible for the authenticity of submitted materials. Incomplete or false applications will be rejected.
