Benefits

The University of Melbourne Hansen Funded Scholarship in Australia will provide scholarships valued at up to $140,000 to Australian and international students. It covers $40,000 per year for the first 3.5 years of a full-time PhD candidature and, with the approval of an extension, of up to 6 months paid at the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships (RTP) rate of that year. Recipients are entitled to the same benefits as the RTP, subject to the terms and conditions outlined here. A key feature of the scholarship is a mentoring program that provides valuable experience in tertiary teaching and promoting History to the community.

 

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the University of Melbourne Hansen Funded Scholarship in Australia are stated below:

1. Eligible Countries: All nationalities.

2. Acceptable Course or Subjects: Ph.D. degree coursework in Historical, philosophical, political, and social studies

3. Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

4. Meet the entry requirements for the full-time Doctor of Philosophy – Arts (DR-PHILART) in the field of History;

5. Have received the minimum result of first class Honours in the qualifying degree; and,

6. Be enrolling in a full-time Doctor of Philosophy – Arts (PhD) in History for the following year.

Others

1. How to Apply: To apply for the scholarship, applicants must complete the online application form.

2. Supporting Documents: Applicants must submit their cover letter, CV, and academic transcript with their application.

a) A 500-word statement outlining their views on the significance of History teaching and the role of History in our society;

b) An outline of the PhD proposal and proposed  supervisor;

c) Current academic records; and,

d) Any other information to support the application that may assist the committee in making its decision.

3. Admission Requirements: For getting enrolled, candidates must check the entry requirement of their chosen program.

4. Language Requirement: Students meet the English requirements (for international applicants only) with overall IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0.
