Eligibility

This scholarship is open to applicants from Africa applying to all on-campus Masters programs. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their application for admission and must:

  • be resident in Africa at time of applying
  • have completed a first degree in Africa
  • hold a conditional or unconditional offer of a place for a full-time postgraduate taught programme
  • demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to a degree equivalent to a UK 1st Class Hons or better

English Language Requirements: In order to undertake a program of study here at the University, applicants will need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English. They can demonstrate their level of English with IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications. The sections below will tell them what grades they need in these qualifications for the subject area they want to study. Some degree programs have slightly higher requirements than those stated here. When this is so, the university will ensure that they are informed using the contact details they have provided on their application. If applicants have been instructed and assessed in the English language at a recognized institution, they may be exempt from these requirements.

Others

  • Applicants will be automatically assessed for a scholarship based on academic merit. Offer holders who are being considered for the opportunity will be contacted and asked to submit a 400-word personal statement detailing:
  • Why you have selected the program at the University of Glasgow
  • Why you merit the funded-place (e.g academic/personal achievement)
  • How you will benefit from it (e.g. employment prospects, financial relief, etc)
  • A personal statement should be around 400 words and include your full name and applicant number.
