Do you wish to commence your research study in anthropology or sociology in Australia? The University of Adelaide has just the opportunity for you! It is offering bright students a chance to participate in the University Scholarship ARC Project – Critical conversations: An ethnographic study of Australian organ donation – Social Sciences / Sociology, Criminology and Gender Studies for the academic year 2022-2023.

This University of Adelaide International Scholarship programme is funded by the University of Adelaide to support a full-time PhD student commencing research in anthropology or sociology. Nan eligible applicants will be excellent in academic writing and communication skills, hold a relevant bachelor’s degree qualification, and are domestic or international students. The award consists of an annual stipend of $28,854.

Scholarship Benefits

The University of Adelaide International Scholarship will provide the selected PhD candidates a stipend of $28,854 at the 2022 rate per annum.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Australian and New Zealand national students and other international students are eligible to apply for this University of Adelaide International Scholarship.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply for a PhD programme at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Adelaide.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia/international students who are accepted as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide.

  • How to Apply: Domestic and international students must follow their respective admission application pathways. Then, to apply for the scholarship, students must submit their expression of interest to Dr. Tanya Zivkovic via mail at [email protected], with the name of the scholarship in the subject heading.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Evidence of Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent resident status (if applicable)
  • Degree certificates (testamurs)
  • Academic transcripts
  • Translations of non-English documentation
  • Evidence of English language proficiency
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have a relevant Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in anthropology or sociology.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Internet-Based Test
  • PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic
  • C1 Advanced (formerly CAE – Cambridge English: Advanced)
