Scholarship Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Ghent University Doctoral Scholarships in Belgium are stated below:

1. Applicants must belong to one of the developing countries mentioned above.

2. They shall submit a joint research proposal, including the supervisor of Partner University and Ghent University.

3. Female applicants are encouraged to apply for the Ghent University Scholarships in Europe.

4. Exchange students cannot apply for this scholarship.

5. Applicants with topics that are relevant to development will be preferred.

6. They must agree to the mobility scheme of the PhD scholarship in Belgium.

7. Their first research stay must start between 10 October 2024 and 28 February 2025.

8. There are no restrictions related to the field of research. Nonetheless, preference will be given to development-related topics.

9. Only those students who intend to obtain a joint PhD degree at Ghent University can apply for this Ghent University Doctoral Scholarship in Belgium.

10. This doctoral scholarship program is for those students who are at the beginning of their Ph.D. (before the program starts, applicants must have at least 36 months of doctoral research left to complete their PhD).
