Eligibility Criteria for the La Trobe FLEX Scholarship 2026

  • Currently be receiving a Research Training Program (RTP) stipend or a La Trobe University Graduate Research Scholarship (LTGRS) stipend, or have accepted an offer of RTP or LTGRS
  • Have a disability attributable to one or more intellectual, cognitive, neurological, sensory, or physical impairments, or to one or more impairments attributable to a psychiatric condition
  • The impairment or impairments are, or are likely to be, permanent
  • The impairment or impairments result in substantially reduced functional capacity to undertake, or psychosocial functioning in undertaking, one or more of: communication; social interaction; learning; mobility; self-care; self-management
  • Disability may be demonstrated through provision of medical information or evidence that the applicant is a participant in the NDIS
  • The candidate’s disability has a demonstrable impact on the pace at which they are able to study that means additional time is required for completion beyond the standard candidature provisions
  • Priority is given to applicants who will be undertaking their research at a La Trobe University campus
  • For doctoral research scholarships, applicants should have completed a Masters by Research or other significant body of research, such as lead authorship of a research thesis or peer-reviewed publication, assessed at a La Trobe Masters by research standard of 70 or above
  • For Masters by research scholarships, applicants should have attained the equivalent of at least a high honours 2A grade degree at an Australian university or equivalent from a recognised overseas university
  • The FLEX scholarship can only be awarded if the applicant is currently receiving an RTP or LTGRS stipend, or if they are successful in their application for the RTP or LTGRS stipend
