JINR START Winter Program 2027 is a research-focused programme that invites selected students to work on advanced-level projects under the supervision of JINR experts; JINR START is offered as a 6–8 week session in Dubna during 2027.

The programme is organised by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) and selects students whose academic disciplines align with JINR scientific fields; participants prepare a written report on their work which is posted on the Programme website.

JINR START Winter Program Benefits

  • Travel arrangements vary by country. Students from Russia and Belarus purchase their own tickets to Dubna. JINR reimburses these costs upon submission of the required supporting documents.
  • For students from all other countries, tickets must be booked exclusively through JINR.
  • Please retain all travel documents and check the travel and reimbursement requirements with the START team before making any bookings.
  • Students receive a daily allowance of 2,000 rubles.
  • Visa costs are reimbursed by JINR upon submission of a copy of the visa and the receipt for the visa fee.
  • Accommodation is booked and paid for by JINR.
  • All documents submitted to the START team for reimbursement must be in English or Russian.

How to Apply for JINR START Winter Program?

  • Prior to submitting your application, please ensure that you meet and can provide official documentation for the following primary requirements:
  • Your academic discipline aligns with one of the JINR scientific fields and is included in the current topical plan.
  • You are enrolled as a 4th- or 5th-year undergraduate student, a Master’s student, or a first-year PhD student under the age of 30.
  • Begin your registration by clicking the +Student button on the website. Complete the registration form thoroughly and upload all required documents, including:
  • Your graduation certificate
  • Academic transcript and proof of undergraduate enrollment
  • Your up-to-date CV
  • A recommendation letter
  • A motivation letter
  • Immediately after completing the registration form, please apply for the Session – you do not need to wait for your registration to be approved.

What happens at the end of the participant’s stay?
