Eligibility Criteria for the International Partnership Scholarship 2026

  • Applicants must have completed secondary (high) school or at another approved institution that grants University Entrance overseas (outside of New Zealand).
  • Applicants must be intending to enrol or have enrolled in full-time degree-level, undergraduate study at the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.
  • Applicants must be intending to undertake a minimum of four semesters at the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.
  • Applicants must be studying on campus throughout the duration of their studies.
  • Applicants must be applying to study at the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka through one of our approved articulation partner agreements.

  • Every eligible applicant must agree in their application for study, through the student management system (eVision), that they would like to be considered for international scholarships at the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.

If your residency status changes during the tenure of the scholarship, the University may suspend or terminate the scholarship and require the return of funds in part or full.

Are government-sponsored students eligible?

No, students sponsored by their home Government or the New Zealand Government are not eligible for this scholarship.

How is the scholarship paid for semester 2 starters?

For those commencing study in semester 2 (July), half the scholarship funds ($5,000) will be released as a credit towards tuition fees, with the other half released in semester 1 (February) of the following year.
