HSC Ambassador Program 2027 in Germany | Fully Funded

HSC Ambassador Program 2027 places young sustainability leaders from the Global South into the HSC Youth Ambassador cohort to contribute to conference formats, engage decision-makers and expand their global networks through fully funded participation.

The program is run by the Hamburg Sustainability Conference and invites applicants who are community leaders active in sustainability. Selected Ambassadors will join the Roundtable Series in December 2026 and the Conference in Hamburg on May 31–June 1, 2027.

HSC Ambassador Program Eligibility Criteria

  • You are between 18 and 30 years old.
  • You come from and reside in a Global South country based on the OECD DAC List of ODA Recipients.
  • You are a young leader actively driving sustainability efforts in your community.
  • You can confidently communicate in English and are able to dedicate time to actively participate in the program and contribute to the conference.
  • You need to be available to travel in the week of December 7–11, 2026 for the Roundtable Series and for the Conference on May 31–June 1, 2027.

What is the HSC Ambassador Program?

The HSC Ambassador Program selects young leaders to join the Youth Ambassador cohort, contribute to conference formats, participate in sessions and engage with decision-makers. Ambassadors will be involved in preparatory work and exchanges before, during and after the Hamburg Sustainability Conference.

Who is eligible to apply?

Are travel and accommodation covered?

Yes. The HSC Ambassador Program offers fully funded participation: travel and accommodation costs for selected Youth Ambassadors are covered according to the information provided on the program page.

What are the important program dates?

The application opens on October 6, 2026 and closes on October 19, 2026. Interview rounds with shortlisted candidates take place end of October 2026, participation confirmation by end of October/early November 2026, Roundtable Series December 7–11, 2026, and the Hamburg Sustainability Conference on May 31–June 1, 2027.

How do I apply?

Do I need to be available for events before the conference?

Yes. Selected Ambassadors may be required to do preparatory work and must be available to travel for the Roundtable Series in the week of December 7–11, 2026 in a partner country, in addition to attending the conference in Hamburg on May 31–June 1, 2027.

What countries are eligible?

Applicants must come from and reside in a Global South country as defined by the OECD DAC List of ODA Recipients. The program page provides a ‘Country of Residence’ dropdown; if a country does not appear you are not eligible to apply.

What language proficiency is required?

Applicants must be able to confidently communicate in English, as stated in the eligibility criteria, to participate in the program and engage in preparatory work and conference activities.

How are candidates selected?

After the application deadline, there will be interview rounds with shortlisted candidates at the end of October 2026. Participation confirmations are expected by end of October or early November 2026. Selection considers leadership, engagement in sustainability and ability to contribute to the conference.
