Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship 2026 in USA | Fully Funded

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is a U.S. government funded scholarship that gives young professionals an opportunity to obtain a master’s degree from one of the many universities in the United States. Successful candidates are expected to return to Sierra Leone after their studies and contribute to the country’s development in their respective field.

Applications for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the 2027–2028 academic year will open on February 23, 2026 at 9:00 AM and close on April 5, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Applicants must submit their applications no later than April 5, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Late submissions will not be considered.

Applicants must be Sierra Leonean citizens currently living in Sierra Leone, have successfully completed a first degree (bachelor’s equivalent) with an excellent score, have at least five consecutive years professional work experience after their Bachelor’s degree, demonstrate outstanding academic and English language competencies, exceed Fulbright program minimum scores on TOEFL and GRE tests, and not intend to immigrate permanently to the United States before submitting the application and two years after study is completed.

Applicants who already have TOEFL and/or GRE scores may upload them at the time of application. However, having TOEFL or GRE scores is not mandatory at the initial application stage and is not required to be shortlisted. Tests can be taken after applicants are shortlisted.

The application process is completed entirely online. Applicants are no longer required to drop off application packets at the U.S. Embassy or at any American Space. All fields are permitted, with the exception of medicine and research that requires clinical contact with patients. Candidates who wish to pursue their master’s degree in the following areas: Artificial Intelligence (AI), STEM, Cybersecurity, Health Digitization, Disease Prevention, Supply Chain Management, and Trade are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program has implemented a zero-tolerance plagiarism policy. Application materials will be processed using software to help identify any instance of plagiarism. If plagiarism appears in any part of the application, it may result in the nominee’s disqualification from participation in the program.

The program is administered by the U.S. Embassy in Sierra Leone. The application and selection process is managed through the embassy’s educational exchange initiatives.
