Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Erasmus Mundus EMMIE Scholarship 2026 FAQ clarifies English requirements, ECTS eligibility, project expectations, motivation letters, translations, self-funded applications, and scholarship feedback. All applicants must meet academic and impact criteria for consideration.

I studied in English. Do I need to provide an English test?

If you have completed your university degree in English, you do not need to provide proof of English language competency. This is the only exception and makes the application process easier for English-taught graduates.

How do I know if I completed 240 ECTS?

240 ECTS corresponds to four years of full-time university study. This can be a 4-year Bachelor’s degree or a combination of a 3-year Bachelor’s and a 1–2 year Master’s program.
Ensure your academic transcripts clearly reflect the completed ECTS to meet the eligibility criteria for the Erasmus Mundus EMMIE Scholarship 2026.

Does professional experience account for lack of credits?

Professional experience cannot replace academic credits for the EMMIE program. Only formal university studies and ECTS completion are considered for eligibility.
Even strong professional experience won’t compensate for missing credits, so make sure your degree meets the required standard before applying.

My application was not successful. Can I receive personal feedback?

Due to the large number of applications, the EMMIE program does not provide individual feedback to applicants. Most applications are strong, and only the top candidates are shortlisted. If your application is unsuccessful, it’s often because the committee must select the best-fit candidates from hundreds of qualified applicants.

What is the difference between the motivation letter and the scholarship motivation letter?

The scholarship motivation letter specifically explains why you deserve financial support. It is different from the general motivation letter used to apply to the program.

Do I need legalized translations for my documents?

Sworn or certified translations are sufficient. Apostille or official legalizations are not required for EMMIE applications. This reduces extra paperwork and allows international students to submit their documents efficiently without additional legal steps.

Who should I address my motivation letter to?

You should address all motivation letters to the Emmie Coordination Committee. There is no required format or need for CV pictures. Keep your letter clear, concise, and focused on your goals, impact, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals for better chances of scholarship consideration.

Can I apply as a self-funded student for Erasmus Mundus EMMIE Scholarship 2026?

Yes, self-funded students can apply. Fees are listed on the EMMIE website, and students are encouraged to explore alternative funding options. While self-funding is possible, scholarship candidates still need to meet eligibility criteria and complete their degree before the program starts.

I am finishing my last year. Can I apply for Erasmus Mundus EMMIE Scholarship 2026?

Scholarship applicants must have completed their degree before applying. If you are finishing your last year, you can only apply as a self-funded student. This ensures all scholarship recipients are fully qualified and ready to start the program without pending academic requirements.

Do I need an entrepreneurial project to apply for Erasmus Mundus EMMIE Scholarship 2026?

Yes, having a project aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals is a key selection criterion. It can be an idea or an already launched project.
The project demonstrates your potential impact and entrepreneurial mindset, which is essential for being considered for the Erasmus Mundus EMMIE Scholarship 2026.
