EDCAP Sport Scholarship is the University of Birmingham’s highest tier sport scholarship for elite student-athletes, combining financial awards with tailored strength and conditioning, medical and performance lifestyle support to help athletes pursue a dual career in high-performance sport and academic study.

The scholarship is provided by the University of Birmingham and is designed for athletes aiming to compete at major international championships; it offers a package including a financial award, sport science and medical support, Peak Sport & Fitness membership and one-grade reduction in academic offer conditions.

Eligibility Criteria for the EDCAP Sport Scholarship 2027

• Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply and must be competing in an Olympic, Paralympic and/or Commonwealth Games sport
• Applicants must be competing at a junior international level as a minimum and should clearly demonstrate the potential to progress towards major international championships.
• Applicants must have applied for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate programme at the University of Birmingham and must complete a separate Sport Scholarship application.
• Meeting the criteria for consideration does not guarantee an EDCAP scholarship.
• Open to students with the following nationalities: Ireland, United Kingdom

How to Apply for EDCAP Sport Scholarship 2027

• Apply for your University of Birmingham programme. You must have submitted an application for your intended undergraduate or postgraduate programme at the University of Birmingham.
• Complete the Sport Scholarship application form. Applications open on 1 October 2026 and must be submitted by Wednesday 20 January 2027.
• You will need your UCAS ID or University of Birmingham application ID when completing your Sport Scholarship application. Please ensure you enter the correct ID, as an incorrect or missing number may delay your application.
• You will also be asked to provide information about your sporting achievements and the contact details of a coach or representative who can support your application. Decisions will be communicated by 31 March 2027.
