The Chinese Government Scholarship 2026-2027 (CGSP) is offered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) under the Government of China, in cooperation with the Higher Education Commission Pakistan (HEC). It aims to strengthen educational and research cooperation between China and Pakistan, enabling Pakistani students, researchers, and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities. HEC acts as the nominating agency on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.

Requirements for Chinese Government Scholarship 2026

  • Be a citizen of Pakistan (or Azad Jammu & Kashmir)
  • Be in good mental and physical health
  • Age limits: undergraduate applicants under 25 years; master’s under 35 years; PhD under 40 years (senior scholars may have additional age limits)
  • Meet university admission requirements and CSC/HEC criteria in terms of academic qualification, grade, and language proficiency
  • For Chinese‑taught programmes: valid HSK certificate (Level 3 for undergraduates/general; Level 4 for master/PhD) unless exempted
  • Applicants must provide required documents including: passport, highest diploma/transcripts (with translation if needed), language certificates (HSK/IELTS/TOEFL if applicable), study plan/research proposal, recommendation letters (for graduate/PhD), pre‑admission notice from target university (preferred)
  • Applicants must not submit irrelevant or incomplete documentation; false information may lead to disqualification

Note: The preparatory year is mandatory for undergraduate programs unless the applicant holds a valid HSK Level 3 certificate (validity: 2 years). For Masters and PhD programs, both Chinese and English-taught programs are available.​

How to Apply

  1. Register and apply online via HEC’s Learning Opportunities Abroad portal; complete your profile, select the Chinese Government Scholarship category, fill in the application form and print a signed copy.
  2. After submitting at HEC, also apply via the CSC online portal (e.g., CampusChina) selecting “Program Category: Type A” and agency number as required (e.g., Agency No. 5861).
  3. Ensure all documents are scanned clearly, meet requirements, and are attached correctly in the online application(s).
  4. After online submission, shortlisted candidates will be notified for further steps; hard‑copies may be requested later by HEC.
  5. Monitor HEC’s portal for updates and selection results; only applications submitted via both HEC and CSC portals will be considered.
