The Singapore Management University  SMU is an autonomous university in Singapore. The university provides an American-style education modelled after the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

SMU was established on 12 January 2000 and is located in the downtown area of Singapore. It has a city campus with a total enrollment of about 10,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and comprises six schools offering undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Financial Services, Accountancy, Economics, Information Systems Management, Law and the Social Sciences. The subsidised fees for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents shown are without GST which is separately subsidised by the Singapore Government. The subsidised fees for International Students and non-subsidised fees are inclusive of GST.

Tuition fees may change from year to year for each new incoming cohort. However, students enrolled in AY2018/19 will pay fixed fees throughout the normal duration of studies (4 years duration) i.e. this cohort will not be subjected to further fee increases during this period for the Regular Terms.

Current SMU students will not be affected by the AY 2018/19 fees as they will continue to pay the fees that applied to their respective cohort year.

AY 2018/19 entering freshmen who are not eligible for or choose not to apply for a Tuition Grant are required to pay the non-subsidized fees mentioned above.


National Servicemen

National Servicemen, whose enrolment into university is delayed due to their national service obligations in Singapore will pay the relevant tuition fees in the year of application and offer.

NGEE ANN POLYTECHNIC:

Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Abbreviation: NP) is an institution of higher learning (IHL) in Singapore with more than 14,800 full-time and 3,000 part-time students, more than 1,800 staff, and 148,000 alumni. As an industry-oriented alternative to a broader based junior college education, polytechnic graduates in Singapore are sought after for work or many continue to complete university degrees. In contrast to polytechnics in the United States and UK, polytechnics in Singapore admit the majority of their students after secondary school which is after 10 years of formal education. Diplomas in a specialized area of study, for example Biomedical Science, are awarded after completing 3 or 2 years of studies.

Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology

The Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) is a major research enterprise established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in partnership with the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF) in 2007. SMART is the first entity in the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) developed by NRF.

SMART is MIT’s first, and to-date only, research centre outside the United States. It is also MIT’s largest international research programme. UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH WALES ASIA

The University of New South Wales Asia was the first international university campus for the University of New South Wales in Singapore which opened on 12 March 2007. UNSW Asia was the first foreign university and fifth university in Singapore.

On 23 May 2007, UNSW Asia Singapore campus announced its planned closure on 28 June 2007, at the end of the first semester due to financial issues and lower than expected student number As a result of the sudden closure, rifts within the UNSW management were publicized, and accusations were exchanged between the University and the Economic Development Board. Questions were raised over the Economic Development Board’s role in bringing in potentially over-ambitious business plans. Singapore government’s total loans to the university amounting to S$32 million was also revealed. The University is expected to repay all loans, and will have to restore the land for its campus to its original state, potentially incurring further costs.
