What are the opening and closing dates for applications?

Scholarship applications open from 10am Tuesday 13th January 2026 and close at 2pm Friday 15th May 2026. Late applications will not be considered. The assessment process runs from February to July 2026.

How do I make an application?

Applications are submitted online through the Aziz Foundation website starting January 2026. The application form includes questions about education, work experience, financial means, a 1,000-word statement, and two referee names. You may only apply once per year.

What is the processing time for this scheme?

Do I need to wait for a university offer before applying?

No, you should apply for both the scholarship and course simultaneously. The only exception is Manchester Metropolitan University, where you need an offer beforehand. For all other Preferred Partner institutions, apply concurrently.

What criteria are used in assessing applications?

Assessment criteria include ability to complete the proposed course, dedication to bettering British Muslim communities, financial barriers/Zakat eligibility, prior experience in chosen field, career benefit from course, demonstration of social impact, willingness to advocate for communities, and desire to tackle Islamophobia.

Are there restrictions on courses covered by the scholarships?

Courses must be at Masters level (except Media/Journalism programs). Funded areas include Media & Journalism, Arts & Culture, Sustainability/Environment, Sports, Technology, Law (aspiring barristers), Policy (excluding health), and Philanthropy. Excluded areas are Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Health/Medicine, Finance, and Engineering without sustainability focus.

Is there any financial limit to the scholarships?

There is currently no upper limit, but the foundation covers tuition fees only. More expensive courses may receive partial funding up to 100%. Maintenance costs are not covered. Funding is provided as Zakat for eligible candidates.

When must my course start?

Courses must commence in the academic year 2026-27, with entry from September 2026 onwards. January 2026 entry is also acceptable. For two-year Masters programs, second year funding requires commencement in 2026-27.

Does the course have to be full-time?

No, the foundation funds part-time courses and online courses as well as full-time programs. The key requirement is that the course is at a Preferred Partner UK university in an eligible subject area.
