Central Sector Scholarship 2025 – For College and University Students

The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS) for College and University Students is an initiative of the Indian government to provide financial assistance to meritorious students pursuing higher education. It is a merit-based scholarship, meaning it is awarded based on academic performance, specifically in the Class 12 board exams.

Students enrolled in a college or university pursuing regular undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) courses who require financial assistance to continue their studies can apply for the Central Sector Scholarship 2025. Launched in 2008 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, this scholarship scheme provides selected students with annual financial support to help cover educational expenses for the entire duration of their course. The scholarship is available to students pursuing three, four, or five-year UG programs, as well as two-year PG programs. The scholarship amount varies depending on the duration and level of the course. The application process for the Central Sector Scholarship 2025 is fully online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Documents Needed for Central Sector Scholarship

Applicants must keep a few necessary documents ready at the time of the application process. The list of the required documents for the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students is given below.

• Bank passbook issued in the name of the applicant for filling bank details
• Aadhaar card number (In case Aadhaar is not yet assigned, alternatives like Aadhaar enrolment ID slip, voter ID card, driving license, PAN, passport etc. can be used)
• Income certificate issued by the competent authority
• Caste certificate, if applicable
• Disability certificate, if applicable
• Class 12 mark sheet

Eligibility

• Must be above the 80th percentile of successful candidates in Class 12 (10+2 pattern or equivalent) from their respective Board of Examination.
• Pursuing a regular UG/PG course
• Annual family income less than ₹4.5 Lakh
• Not receiving any other scholarship or fee reimbursement of any kind.
• Diploma students are not eligible under the scheme.
• Students who had dropped out after class 12 are not eligible under the scheme.

Benefits of Central Sector Scholarship 2025

• ₹12,000 per annum for the first three years 
• ₹20,000 per annum for the fourth and fifth year.
