How many scholarships are awarded each semester?

There is no limit to the number of Choose Dalarna First Scholarships or Academic Excellence Scholarships awarded. Every student who meets the eligibility criteria and submits an application during the designated periods will receive the scholarship.

When will I know if I will receive the Choose Dalarna First Scholarship?

Dalarna University publishes a list of all admitted students who fulfilled the criteria by April 1 for the autumn semester and November 1 for the spring semester. If your name is on the list, the 5,000 SEK scholarship is applied automatically to your first-semester tuition fee.

Do I need to apply separately for the Choose Dalarna First Scholarship?

Yes. You must rank any campus-based Dalarna University programme as your first choice on UniversityAdmissions.se and submit the separate Dalarna University scholarship application by February 15 for autumn intake or September 15 for spring intake. Even if admitted to a different DU programme, you may still qualify if an eligible DU programme was your top choice.

How do I know my scholarship application was received?

After you submit your application for the Choose Dalarna First Scholarship or the Academic Excellence Scholarship, a confirmation screen is displayed. If you saw this screen, your application was submitted successfully. You will not receive a confirmation email.

Can I receive both a Dalarna University scholarship and a Swedish Institute scholarship?

No. You are welcome to apply for both, but if you are selected for an SI scholarship, your Dalarna University scholarship will not be applied. Receiving a Dalarna University scholarship does not impact your chances of getting a scholarship from the Swedish Institute.

Are scholarships based on financial need?

The Choose Dalarna First scholarship is for everyone required to pay tuition fees, admitted, and who selected Dalarna University as first choice. How do I apply for the Academic Excellence Scholarship, and do I need to reapply each semester?

You must submit an application each semester using the form on the Dalarna University scholarship website so your academic performance can be reviewed. Application periods are February 1 to February 15 for autumn semester results and July 1 to July 15 for spring semester results.
